Review Carousel Widget

Overview

The Review Carousel Widget lets you showcase customer reviews in a horizontal, swipeable slider (carousel) on your storefront. Instead of displaying reviews in a long list, the carousel rotates through review cards—making it ideal for highlighting social proof on high-traffic pages like your homepage, product pages, and landing pages.

The carousel can display:

  • Text reviews
  • Photo reviews
  • Video reviews
  • Featured reviews (hand-picked highlights)
For the best conversion impact, place a Review Carousel near a key decision point—like below your hero section on the homepage or near the “Add to cart” section on a product page.

Add the Review Carousel to your storefront

In your app admin, go to Widgets (or Storefront) and select Review Carousel. Select the page or placement where you want the carousel to show (for example: Homepage, Product page, or a Landing page). Choose what reviews to show, how the carousel behaves, and how the cards look (details below). Use the preview to confirm spacing, readability, and how many cards show on desktop vs mobile, then Publish your changes. The exact menu names can vary depending on your theme/editor. If you don’t see “Widgets,” look for sections like Storefront, Onsite display, or Theme integration.

What you can display in the carousel

Review type

Choose which reviews the carousel can pull from:

  • All Reviews — Displays all available reviews (based on your store’s review visibility rules).
  • Featured Reviews — Displays only reviews you’ve marked as featured.
Use Featured Reviews for homepage and paid-traffic landing pages so you control the story: pick reviews that mention your best-selling products, fast shipping, fit/quality, or customer service.

Review media type

Filter reviews by the type of media they include:

  • All Media — Shows all reviews (text-only, photos, and videos).
  • Only Image — Shows only reviews that include at least one photo.
  • Only Video — Shows only reviews that include a video.
Media-only filters are a great fit for brand storytelling sections (for example: “Customer photos”) and for mobile-first pages where visuals outperform long text.

Carousel heading (title and summary)

Add a heading above the carousel to set context and increase trust.

Example heading: Real customer stories

Heading customization options

  • Heading text — The title shown above the carousel.
  • Text alignment — Typically left, center, or right (depending on your theme layout).
  • Text color — Ensure strong contrast with the page background.
  • Title size — Adjust to match your storefront typography scale.

Optional trust signals

You can also show supporting details near the heading, such as:

  • Star rating summary (average rating)
  • Total review count
  • Verified badge (when available for the review/source)
If you show total review count, keep it consistent across pages (homepage, product pages, and dedicated reviews page) to avoid confusing shoppers.

Carousel behavior settings

Control how shoppers interact with the carousel and how many reviews they see at once.

Navigation arrows

Enable Navigation arrows so visitors can manually move through reviews. Arrows are especially helpful on desktop where swipe gestures are less common.

Auto scroll

Enable Auto Scroll to automatically rotate reviews. This draws attention to the widget, especially when placed above the fold.

If your carousel is placed near other moving elements (videos, animated banners, or multiple sliders), consider turning Auto Scroll off to reduce distraction and improve readability.

Reviews per row

Choose how many review cards appear at the same time:

  • 1 review — Best for mobile-first layouts and longer review text.
  • 2 reviews — Balanced option for most pages.
  • 3 reviews — Good for short reviews and wider layouts.
  • 4 reviews — Best when reviews are short and you want a “wall of social proof” effect.
If reviews include photos or long text, start with 2 per row. Too many cards at once can make text hard to read and reduce engagement.

Space between cards

Adjust the spacing to match your theme’s grid. Use tighter spacing for a compact section; increase spacing if the page feels crowded or the cards blend into the background.

Card appearance settings

Customize the look of each review card so it feels native to your storefront design.

Card background color

Choose a background color that keeps the review text readable and visually separates cards from the page background (especially on white or very dark pages).

Card outline (border)

Enable or disable a border around review cards. Borders can help cards stand out on busy pages or when your page background is similar to the card background.

If your theme already uses “card” styling across the site, match the carousel card background and border style to maintain a consistent look.

Recommended setups

  • Review type: Featured Reviews
  • Media type: All Media
  • Reviews per row: 2–3
  • Auto scroll: On (if the page isn’t already animation-heavy)
  • Heading: Include star rating summary + total review count
  • Review type: All Reviews (or Featured if you want tight control)
  • Media type: Only Image (great for apparel/beauty/home)
  • Reviews per row: 1–2
  • Auto scroll: Off (so shoppers can read at their pace)
  • Placement: Near key product details (shipping/returns/size info)
  • Review type: Featured Reviews (curate to match the ad’s promise)
  • Media type: Only Video or Only Image (if available)
  • Reviews per row: 2
  • Card styling: Higher contrast (clear background + subtle border)

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm you have reviews available and visible (for example, not all are hidden/unpublished).
  • If Featured Reviews is selected, make sure at least one review is marked as featured.
  • If Only Image or Only Video is selected, confirm you have reviews that include that media type.
  • Increase card background contrast (lighter background on dark pages, or slightly tinted background on white pages).
  • Turn on a card outline to separate cards from the page.
  • Reduce reviews per row so each card has more space.
  • Turn Auto Scroll off and rely on navigation arrows.
  • Show fewer cards at once (for example, change from 4 to 2) so shoppers can focus on one review.
  • Move the carousel lower on the page if it competes with key messages in your hero section.
