Review Form Settings

Overview

Review Form Settings control the experience customers see when they leave a review—how the form is presented, who can submit, and what happens after submission. Use these settings to balance ease of submission with review quality.

You can configure:

  • Form layout (single-step vs multi-step)

  • Login requirement (whether customers must sign in)

  • After submission behavior (redirect to a thank-you page)

Make one change at a time and monitor completion rate and review quality for a few days before adjusting again.

Update your Review Form Settings

Go to Review Form Settings in your app’s Reviews configuration area.

In the Form layout section, select Single step or Multi-step (details below).

In Login requirement, turn Require Login to Write a Review on or off.

In After submission settings, choose whether to enable Redirect to Thank You Page.

Save your changes, then submit a test review to confirm the full customer experience (form → submit → confirmation/redirect) matches what you intended.

Form layout

Choose how customers move through the review form.

Single step form

Customers complete the entire review form on one page.

  • Best for: short forms and the fastest possible submission

  • What customers experience: one screen with all questions visible

Multi-step form

The review process is split into several smaller steps.

  • Best for: longer forms or when you want a more guided experience

  • What customers experience: a sequence of screens that feels easier to finish

If you ask for multiple details (for example, rating + written feedback + additional fields), a multi-step layout often increases completion by reducing how “long” the form looks upfront.

Login requirement

Choose whether customers must be signed in to submit a review.

Require Login to Write a Review (enabled)

Only logged-in customers can submit reviews.

This can help you:

  • Reduce spam or low-quality submissions

  • Limit fake reviews

  • Increase confidence that reviews are from real customers

Require Login to Write a Review (disabled)

Anyone with access to the review form can submit a review.

  • Benefit: fewer barriers, often higher submission volume

  • Tradeoff: you may need stronger moderation if spam increases

If you disable the login requirement, consider pairing it with moderation practices (for example, reviewing new submissions regularly) to maintain review quality.

After submission settings

Control what customers see immediately after they submit a review.

Redirect to Thank You Page

When Redirect to Thank You Page is enabled:

  • Customers are redirected to a dedicated thank-you page after submitting

  • The thank-you page confirms their review was received successfully

  • This can make the experience feel more complete and reassuring

A clear confirmation step can reduce duplicate submissions from customers who aren’t sure their review went through.

When to use different settings

Choose a single-step form when

  • You want the fastest possible submission flow

  • Your form is short (for example, rating + a short comment)

  • You want customers to see all questions at once

Choose a multi-step form when

  • You want a guided experience that feels simpler to complete

  • Your form includes multiple fields and you want to reduce drop-off

  • You want customers to focus on one step at a time

Enable login required when

  • You’re prioritizing trust and authenticity over maximum volume

  • You’ve seen spam or suspicious submissions

  • Your store experience naturally includes customer accounts

Disable login required when

  • You’re prioritizing higher submission volume

  • Many customers check out as guests and you don’t want extra friction

  • You have a plan to monitor and moderate submissions if needed

Next steps

After you’ve configured the review form, continue improving review collection by setting up:

  • Automatic review request emails (to consistently collect reviews after purchase)

  • Email templates (to match your brand and improve open/click rates)

  • Review rewards (to encourage submissions when appropriate)

These tools work best when your review form is already optimized—low friction, clear confirmation, and the right level of verification for your store.
