The Popup Review Widget shows real customer reviews as small popup notifications on your storefront. These popups appear while visitors browse your store, highlighting positive feedback and building trust.

Popups can display the product image, review content, customer name, rating, and optional badges (like Verified Purchase), depending on your settings.

For the best results, use popups on product and collection pages where shoppers are actively comparing options. Keep the popup content short and the display frequency moderate so it feels helpful—not distracting.

How the Popup Review Widget works

Once enabled, Rivyo automatically displays reviews as small popup notifications across your storefront.

  • Appear after a defined delay (so they don’t show immediately on page load)
  • Rotate through selected reviews based on your “Reviews to display” choice
  • Display one review at a time to keep the message easy to read
  • Automatically disappear after a few seconds
The Popup Review Widget is designed to be “set and forget.” After you choose what to show and how it looks, it runs automatically in the background.

Enable the Popup Review Widget

Use the steps below to turn on popup reviews.

In your Rivyo admin, go to: Rivyo → Reviews → Widget Styling → Popup Review Widget

Turn on: Enable Popup Reviews

Once enabled, Rivyo will start displaying review popups on your storefront using your current settings.


Choose which reviews to display

Decide which reviews Rivyo is allowed to show in popups. This is the most important setting for keeping the popups high-quality and relevant.

Reviews to display

  • Featured Reviews – Only reviews you’ve marked as featured
  • Recent Reviews – The latest reviews submitted to your store
  • All Reviews – Any available review can appear
Most merchants choose Featured Reviews so popups consistently show your strongest, most helpful feedback. If you choose Recent Reviews, check reviews regularly to ensure new popups match your brand tone.

Configure popup rotation

Reviews in rotation

Choose how many reviews Rivyo rotates through in the popup system.

  • Maximum: 20 reviews
  • Example: If you select 10, Rivyo will rotate through those 10 reviews.
A smaller rotation (for example, 6–10) keeps the message consistent and reduces the chance of showing an outdated or less relevant review.

Set popup position

Choose where the popup appears on the screen. Common options include:

  • Bottom Right
  • Bottom Left
  • Top Right
  • Top Left

Most stores use Bottom Right because it’s noticeable without covering key page elements like navigation, product media, or add-to-cart buttons.

If you use sticky carts, chat widgets, or cookie banners, test placement to avoid overlapping important buttons—especially on mobile.

Display options

Control what information appears inside each popup. These settings affect how trustworthy and “busy” the popup feels.

Show Verified Badge

Shows a Verified Purchase badge (when available) to reinforce authenticity.

Show Product Image

Displays the product image next to the review. This helps shoppers connect the review to a specific item at a glance.

Show customer name

Displays the reviewer’s name (or the name format you’ve collected). Names can increase credibility, but if your store collects initials only, this still works well.

Show rating

Displays the star rating in the popup so shoppers immediately understand the sentiment before reading.

Show review text

Shows the review content. If your reviews are long, consider enabling popups with shorter featured reviews to keep popups readable.

A balanced “high trust, low clutter” popup usually includes: Product image, Star rating, and Short review text. Add the Verified Badge if your store has many verified orders.

Recommended settings (best practice)

If you want popups that build trust without interrupting shopping, start with these defaults:

  • Reviews to display: Featured Reviews
  • Reviews in rotation: 6–10
  • Position: Bottom Right
  • Content: Product image + star rating + short text (and Verified badge if available)
After enabling, watch your storefront for a few minutes to confirm placement, readability, and that the popups don’t cover key UI elements (especially on mobile).

  • Confirm Enable Popup Reviews is turned on in Rivyo → Reviews → Widget Styling → Popup Review Widget.
  • Make sure you have eligible reviews for your selection (for example, if you chose Featured Reviews, at least one review must be featured).
  • Wait long enough for the popup delay and rotation to trigger (popups do not always appear immediately on page load).
  • Check for overlap with theme elements (chat widgets, cookie banners) and try a different popup position.

Featured Reviews is best for consistent quality and brand control. Recent Reviews is best if you frequently receive new reviews and want the storefront to feel “live.” All Reviews is best if you have a strong overall review profile and want maximum variety.

Popups are designed to be lightweight. Keep the rotation count reasonable (for example, under 10) and avoid overly busy display settings if your theme already has multiple overlays or scripts running.
