Overview

Product Questions & Answers (Product Q&A) lets shoppers ask questions directly on your product pages. You (the store owner) can reply so future customers see the answer before they buy.

This helps you:

  • Reduce pre-purchase doubts
  • Share important product details (fit, sizing, compatibility, materials, shipping, etc.)
  • Build trust with transparent answers
  • Increase conversions by removing blockers

Answering quickly (and clearly) turns Q&A into a self-serve knowledge base—customers often read answers even if they never ask.

How Product Q&A Works

Product Q&A follows a simple workflow:

  1. Customers ask a question on the product page.
  2. The question appears in your Rivyo Question & Answers dashboard.
  3. You reply to the question.
  4. After approval/publishing (based on your settings), the question and answer display publicly on the product page.
Over time, this creates a helpful Q&A library on each product—new shoppers can find answers without contacting your support team.

How to Enable Product Q&A on Your Store

To let customers ask questions, enable Product Q&A on your storefront. Rivyo supports two common setups:

Best when you want reviews and Q&A in one combined section. Best when you want a standalone Q&A block on the product page.

Method 1: Enable Q&A from the Product Reviews Widget

This option adds an Ask a Question entry point inside your product reviews area, so customers can submit questions next to the review form.

In your Shopify admin, open the Rivyo app and go to Rivyo → Reviews, then open Widget Styling. Find the Product Review Widget settings (the widget used on product pages). Turn on Ask a Question with Reviews. Click Save to apply the change.

After saving, customers will see an Ask a Question option inside the reviews section on product pages.

If your theme has a crowded product page, this method keeps Q&A from adding an extra block while still making questions easy to find.

Method 2: Add a Dedicated Product Q&A Section

This method creates a separate Q&A area on the product page so shoppers can browse questions and answers without scrolling through reviews.

Go to Rivyo → Reviews → Question & Answers. Click Manage Widget. Click Add Product Q&A Widget. Open the Shopify Theme Editor, navigate to your Product template, and add the Rivyo Product Q&A block/section where you want it to appear. Click Save in the Theme Editor.

The Product Q&A section will now appear on your product pages (on the product template where you added the block).

If you have multiple product templates, make sure you add the Rivyo Product Q&A block to each template where you want Q&A to display.

Managing Questions (Approve, Reply, and Publish)

Once customers start submitting questions, manage them from:

Rivyo → Reviews → Question & Answers

Open the Question & Answers list and select a question to view the full message and product it belongs to. Reply with specific details (sizes, measurements, compatibility, what’s included, care instructions, and any limitations). Approve or publish the Q&A (wording may vary by settings) to make it visible to shoppers. Use answers that work for future shoppers, not just the person who asked. For example, include measurements, model numbers, or compatibility lists when relevant.

Best Practices for High-Converting Q&A

  • Be fast: Quick replies reduce drop-off while the shopper is still deciding.
  • Be specific: Replace “Yes, it fits” with “Yes—fits true to size. If between sizes, choose the larger size.”
  • Be honest: If something is not compatible or has limitations, say so clearly to prevent returns.
  • Use simple formatting: Short paragraphs or bullet points make answers easy to scan.

Troubleshooting

  • If you used Method 1, confirm Ask a Question with Reviews is enabled in Rivyo → Reviews → Widget Styling and that the Product Review Widget is visible on the product page.
  • If you used Method 2, confirm you added the Rivyo Product Q&A block/section in the Shopify Theme Editor on the correct product template and clicked Save.
  • If your store uses multiple product templates, add the widget to each template where needed.
  • Make sure the question/answer is approved/published (depending on your moderation settings).
  • Check whether your workflow requires manual approval before showing Q&A publicly.
  • Answer once with a detailed, evergreen response—future customers will see it and won’t need to ask again.
  • Consider updating your product description with the most common answers (then use Q&A for edge cases).
