Product Rating Badge

Overview

The Product Rating Badge shows a product’s average star rating and total number of reviews directly on your storefront. When shoppers can see ratings on collection and featured sections, they can spot best-sellers faster and feel confident before opening a product page.

You can display the badge on:

  • Collection pages
  • Product cards and product grids
  • Featured product sections
  • Homepage product sections
For the biggest impact, place the badge where shoppers scan first: under the product title or near the price on collection pages.

What the Product Rating Badge shows

The badge typically includes:

  • Average star rating (for example, 4.6 ★)
  • Total number of reviews (for example, 25 Reviews)
  • An optional rating label next to the review count (for example, Reviews)
The badge pulls rating data from the reviews collected in Rivyo. If a product has no reviews yet, the badge may not appear until at least one review is published (depending on your widget settings and theme layout).

Where the badge appears

Common placements include:

  • Below the product title (collection pages and product pages)
  • Near the price
  • Inside product cards on collection pages
  • Featured product sections (homepage or landing pages)

Once added, the badge automatically displays the correct rating for each product.

Install the Product Rating Badge

Follow these steps to add the badge to your Shopify theme using app blocks.

In your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Online StoreThemes.
  2. Find your active theme and select Customize.

In the theme editor, use the top page selector to open the template where you want the badge, such as:

  • Products (product page)
  • Collections (collection page / product grid)
  • Home page (featured product sections)
  1. In the left sidebar, click Add block in the section where you want the badge.
  2. Under Apps, select Rivyo.
  3. Choose Product Review Badge.

Drag and drop the Product Review Badge block to the spot you want. Popular placements:

  • Directly below the product title
  • Below the price
  • Near the Add to cart button (product pages)
  1. Click Save in the theme editor.
  2. Open your storefront and check a product that already has reviews to confirm the badge displays.
If you don’t see the badge after saving, test with a product that has at least one published review. Some themes also hide empty elements on grids, which can make “no reviews yet” products look like the badge is missing.

Customize the Product Rating Badge

You can adjust how the badge looks and how the text is displayed from inside Rivyo.

  1. In Shopify admin, open Rivyo.
  2. Go to Reviews.
  3. Select Widget Styling.
  4. Open Product Badge Rating.

In Rating Text, customize the wording shown next to the rating count.

Example format:

4.2 ★ (25 Reviews)

You can change the label Reviews to match your store tone (for example: ratings, customer reviews, or your store language).

Save the settings in Rivyo, then refresh your storefront to see the updated badge.

Example: what shoppers see

On collection pages and featured product sections, the badge appears as a star rating with a review count (for example, 4.6 ★ (25 Reviews)). This gives shoppers quick proof of quality without needing to open the product page.

  • Confirm you added the correct block: In the Shopify theme editor, make sure the block is Product Review Badge under the Rivyo app blocks.
  • Check a product with reviews: Test on a product that has at least one published review.
  • Verify placement: If the badge is inside a product card/grid, try moving it directly under the product title to ensure it’s not being hidden by spacing or layout rules.
  • Refresh cache/theme preview: After saving changes, refresh the storefront and (if applicable) view in an incognito window.

For highest visibility on listing pages, place the badge:

  • Under the product title (best for scanning)
  • Near the price (helps reinforce value)
If you’re showing multiple trust elements (badges, shipping info, sale labels), keep the rating badge close to the title/price and avoid pushing it below the fold.
