Import Reviews from Amazon

Overview

If you sell products that are also listed on Amazon, you can import existing Amazon reviews into Rivyo. This is a fast way to add real customer feedback to your Shopify product pages and build trust with new shoppers.

Rivyo imports Amazon reviews using the Rivyo Chrome Extension, which collects reviews from an Amazon product page and sends them to your Rivyo store.

Import reviews for products that clearly match your Shopify listings (same item/version). This helps avoid misleading reviews and reduces customer confusion.

Before you start

  • You must use Google Chrome (or a Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions).
  • You need access to your Rivyo admin in Shopify.
  • Have the Amazon product page URL ready for the product you want to import reviews from.
Amazon pages can look different depending on your region and whether you’re logged in. The extension works from the product’s review pages, but the number of reviews available to import may vary.

Import reviews from Amazon

In your Shopify admin, open Rivyo, then go to:

Reviews → Import Reviews

Select Import from Amazon, then click Install Chrome Extension.

After installation, you’ll see the Rivyo extension icon in your Chrome toolbar.

Go back to Reviews → Import Reviews → Import from Amazon in Rivyo.

In the Amazon import section, copy the values shown on screen:

  • Store Domain
  • Extension Activation Key

Open the Rivyo Chrome extension, then paste the Extension Activation Key (and select/confirm the correct store if prompted) to connect the extension to your store.

If the extension isn’t connected, it can collect reviews but won’t be able to send them into your Rivyo dashboard.

In Chrome, open the Amazon product page that contains the reviews you want to import.

Confirm the Amazon item matches the product in your Shopify store (for example: same model, size, pack quantity, or edition).

Do not import reviews from a different variation or a similar product. Imported reviews can be visible on your Shopify product page and may create compliance/trust issues if they don’t match the item being sold.

Open the Rivyo Chrome extension while you’re on the Amazon product page.

The extension will:

  • Extract available reviews from the Amazon listing
  • Prompt you to choose the Shopify product the reviews should be assigned to
  • Import the reviews into Rivyo when you confirm

When the import finishes, the reviews will be added to your Rivyo review list for moderation.

Where imported reviews appear

After import, reviews appear inside the Rivyo dashboard in your reviews list. From there you can:

  • Approve reviews before they display on your storefront
  • Edit review content (for clarity, formatting, or policy compliance)
  • Publish approved reviews on Shopify product pages
For best storefront quality, quickly scan imported reviews for duplicates, irrelevant content (for example shipping complaints), and variation-specific comments that don’t apply to the product you’re selling.

Amazon review import limitations

Amazon limits access to review pages. Because of this, Rivyo can import only a portion of the total reviews for a product.

  • Amazon typically allows access to only the first 10 pages of reviews.
  • This usually means Rivyo can import up to about 100 reviews per product (depending on how many reviews are shown per page).
If an Amazon listing has thousands of reviews, importing may capture only the most recent or most visible portion of those reviews due to Amazon’s pagination limits.

Troubleshooting

  • Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece) in Chrome and pin the Rivyo extension to your toolbar.
  • Make sure you installed the extension in the same Chrome profile you’re using to browse Amazon.
  • Return to Rivyo → Reviews → Import Reviews → Import from Amazon and copy the Extension Activation Key again (avoid extra spaces).
  • Confirm you’re connecting to the correct Store Domain (especially if you manage multiple stores).
  • If your browser blocks pop-ups or third-party cookies, temporarily allow them and try again.
  • Scroll the Amazon page and open the product’s reviews section (some layouts require clicking “See all reviews”).
  • Try refreshing the page and running the extension again.
  • Some listings (or regions) restrict review visibility, which can reduce what the extension can collect.
  • Check that the reviews are Approved in your Rivyo reviews list.
  • Confirm you imported to the correct Shopify product (reviews assigned to a different product won’t display where you expect).
  • If your theme uses app blocks/sections, ensure the Rivyo reviews widget is added to the product page template.
